Presenters

 

 

   Jill Eisner, Esq., a lifelong resident of Baltimore, Maryland, Jill is an attorney and a Certified Mediator. She earned her B.A. from Duke University and her J.D. from the University of Maryland Carey School of Law. Jill has worked as a civil litigation attorney and a criminal defense lawyer in private practice. While practicing law, Jill became interested in alternative dispute resolution as a powerful tool to address legal disputes and trained in inclusive and transformative mediation methods. Jill is a Program Manager of the Mediation Program at the Conflict Resolution Center of Baltimore County, where she mediates cases referred from various sources, including the District Court for Baltimore County. In addition, Jill leads workshops and trains other individuals and organizations on how to manage conflict.

 

   Karen Wilson, Esq. earned her B.A. from Franklin University, Switzerland, and her J.D. from Colorado Law. She is licensed to practice law by the Kansas Supreme Court and has a diverse legal background. Karen is passionate about non-violent conflict resolution and the power of self-determination in problem-solving. She has lived all over the United States and is proud to call Maryland home for the last seven years. She is a Certified Mediator, trained conflict coach, and Program Manager of the Mediation Program at the Conflict Resolution Center of Baltimore County, where she mediates, coaches, manages cases, provides conflict resolution skills workshops, leads community outreach efforts, and oversees volunteer engagement/management.

 

 

Description of Program

 

   This program explores the topics of Self-Awareness, Situational Awareness, and Listening to help attendees understand how best to use their communication skills. By introducing and refreshing simple techniques, we will look at how our behavior may be instrumental in setting the tone for interactions with other people and how we can use what we know about ourselves to effect better communication and resolution when conflict occurs. This awareness and precise listening techniques will empower our audience members to get the conversations and outcomes they want. Using digital polling, along with our simple slide deck and examples, we will offer an interactive program that is informative and interactive.

   After the program, a Certificate for 2 hours of ADR-related continuing education will be provided free to members. Non-members may purchase a certificate online at the MCDR Store for $10.00. If you are not a member, please consider joining and receive your certificate free.
