About the Mediator
Martin has been a practicing mediator and trainer for over 33 years in Maryland. He was one of the original founders of MCDR and received the first Sharon Pickett Award for Excellance in Mediation in 2009. He founded The National Center for Mediation Education, Inc. and serves as its Director. He was the first mediator in the state to become certified under MCDR's certification process. He has traveled all over the country promoting mediation through trainings. He is the author of two books - "Getting Apart Together: The Couple's Guide to a Fair Divorce or Separation" and co-author of "Starting Your Mediation Practice: A Workbook".
In addition to his mediation practice and training experience, Martin is also a Vocational Expert and Counselor.

     MCDR is the oldest membership-based organization in Maryland dedicated to promoting the use of mediation and supporting

the mediation profession.  We have a proud history of successfully advocating for allowing multiple professions to practice mediation,

halting attempts to restrict the practice some fifteen years ago.  MCDR is the first organization to establish performance based criteria

now in use as a national model, part of an ongoing dialogue on quality assurance and mediator credentials.
