A conversation with Kathy Rockefeller, Executive Director Mediation and Conflict Resolution Center at Howard Community College (MCRC at HCC)

8:30 PM Business Meeting

Program: Kathy Rockefeller will share her view of ADR trends from her unique vantage point as Executive Director of MCRC at HCC. Embraced as an integral part of the College, MCRC serves as host of restorative dialogues for various referral agencies in the Howard County government, a community mediation center, and a collaborative sponsor of the AA program in Conflict Resolution offered by HCC. Come listen to Kathy share her insights as director of this singular organization at the crossroads of ADR trends in Maryland. Learn about restorative dialogue, a new process in the ADR repertoire: whom it helps, the unique set of competencies it calls upon, and how it differs from more familiar processes such as community conferencing and mediation. As Kathy might say, "Come and let's talk!"

Presenter: Kathy Rockefeller is the Director of the Community Mediation and Restorative Dialogue Programs for the Mediation & Conflict Resolution Center at Howard Community College, in Columbia, Maryland. A member of the Maryland Bar since 1991, Ms. Rockefeller began working with the Center as the Program Coordinator in 2006 and became Director in 2007. As Director, she works to build and maintain relationships between MCRC and its community partners, guides the community mediation and restorative dialogue services and policies, and oversees the implementation of HCC's AA Degree in Conflict Resolution. She resides in Ellicott City with her husband and three daughters.
