Recognized as a Certified Mediator by MCDR, Barbara holds three graduate degrees: a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California; a Masters Degree in Education/Family Therapy from Boston University; and, a Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law. Member of the State Bar Associations of Maryland and Texas, Barbara serves as a volunteer mediator for both the Mediation and Conflict Resolution Center at Howard Community College and the Maryland Human Rights Commission. In addition, Barbara volunteers for the Mediation and Dispute Resolution Center of Baltimore County as a facilitator of Individualized Education Plan meetings in the Baltimore County School System. Early in her career, Barbara worked for the Virginia Department of Social Services. She later lived in Belgium where she counseled families as the Family Advocacy Representative for the 196th Military Medical Hospital. During this time, Barbara also taught courses in communication and creative problem-solving for the University of Marylands European Division of its University College. Former Program Director of the Mediation and Conflict Resolution Center in Howard County, Maryland, Barbara currently mediates and conducts training for organizations in Maryland, including the National Family Resiliency Center (formerly Children of Separation and Divorce), the Administrative Office of the Courts, Johns Hopkins University, the Veterans Administration, and Howard Community College. Former Secretary of the Maryland Council for Dispute Resolution, Barbara is a member of the Advisory Board of the Mediation and Conflict Resolution Center at Howard Community College. She serves as a volunteer mediator for the Center as well as the Maryland Human Rights Commission. Her work has been published in The Mediation Quarterly. Member of the State Bar Associations of Maryland and Texas, Barbara is a Certified Mediator with MCDR and a practitioner member of the Association of Conflict Resolution. She serves with the Mediation and Dispute Resolution Center of Baltimore County as a volunteer facilitator of Individualized Education Plan meetings in the Baltimore County School System. Barbara maintains offices in Howard and Anne Arundel Counties. She receives appointments to mediate from the Circuit Courts in Anne Arundel, Carroll, Howard and Montgomery Counties.
