About MCDR

The Maryland Council for Dispute Resolution (MCDR) is a vibrant 501(c)(3) organization, which has been in operation since 1990, and is devoted to the personal and professional growth of dispute resolution practitioners in the state of Maryland.

 
MCDR Membership benefits include:
 

Networking with other ADR professionals of diverse backgrounds and practice areas.

Education and Sharing through Master classes, on-line discussion, list-serve, and website.  Speakers at our quarterly meetings who are expert on such topics as: The Power of Apology in Mediation; Narrative Mediation; Ethical Issues for Mediators; Mediation in the Federal Government; and Senior Mediation.

Performance Based Mediator Certification, a  voluntary process for experienced mediators to gain valuable feedback that promotes professional growth and skill building.

Advocacy for mediation and mediators through monitoring and participation in changes to court processes and legislation that affects our  profession.

MCDR promotes and expands the use of the high quality Appropriate Dispute Resolution statewide by:

  • Promoting ADR and consumer education/marketing
  • Setting standards of practice and certification of members.
  • Strengthening education/skills of practitioners
  • Eliciting commitment of practitioners to the field
  • Being a resource to practitioners and community (support and nurture

MCDR strives to change the way disputes are resolved in Maryland.  Our  vision is a Maryland where all individuals use cooperative, non-adversarial approaches to resolve their disputes, a  Maryland where cooperative, non-adversarial approaches to resolve conflict  will be the first resort, not the last.
